Family therapy

When there are one or more people with addiction problems within the same family, this always has an impact on the other members of the family. Each family member is entitled to support and assistance, not only the addicts. The family is closely involved in the treatment process, both during the clinical admission and the aftercare process or during the outpatient process.

Family therapy focuses on the following issues:

  • Creating maximum understanding for addiction as a disease and the specific addiction of the main individual in particular, allowing the family to obtain a clear insight into both the physical and mental consequences.
  • Encouraging family members to talk about the significant consequences of the addiction on their own lives. Support is provided to each individual family member, but also to the family as a whole.
  • Sometimes breaking certain habits and patterns within the family dynamics may be necessary in order to provide the addict with the best possible chance of recovery. The SolutionS counsellors have been trained to identify and treat these patterns with the aim of restoring the balance of the family relationships.
